I was introduced to the microwave mug brownie years ago, but all the recipes I found online were not right for my liking. Determined to taste the best mug brownie ever, my wife and I dug out the common ingredients among all of the other recipes we had found and experimented with the ingredient quantities and the cooking time until we came up with this wonderful recipe.
We probably cooked 30 mug brownies before we found the perfect combination. I have called these Countdown Brownies because the ingredients amounts mostly count down from four to one. This recipe was written at approximately 5000 ft above sea level, and I haven’t played with the recipe much at different altitudes. If you do make these, comment below if they worked or if you had to make modifications for your altitude and/or relative humidity.
This is your typical microwave mug brownie, but with ingredient amounts that countdown. I sat around making mug brownies for about 2 hours until I came up with this recipe that makes your cake fluffy and gooey at the same time.
4 tbsp All Purpose Flour
3 tbsp Sugar
2 tbsp Water
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp Egg whisked, raw
1½ tbsp Cocoa Powder
Combine all ingredients in a microwave-safe mug
Place mug in microwave, and cook on high for 99 seconds
Let brownie cool in microwave or on counter for 2 minutes
